BoingBoing just alerted me to an excellent time lapse of a guy who walked across China for a year, aiming to walk to Germany. He took a photo of himself every day and has made a video documenting his beard and hair growth, as well as his amazing journey.
The Longest Way 1.0 - one year walk/beard grow time lapse from Christoph Rehage on Vimeo.
This is one of the coolest time lapses I’ve seen as the background is so interesting and it’s been put together beautifully. I love watching him turn from a clean-cut good looking backpacker into a terrifying hippy and then back again. I think it says a lot about appearance as well - whilst he remains the same person, he looks like somebody I would approach at the beginning but if I met him later on in his trip with the scary beard and wild hair I would have assumed he was incredibly eccentric and not particularly approachable.
He has a website that appears to be down at the moment, I assume it’s getting a spanking from the boingboing traffic. He didn’t make it all the way to Germany by foot, but he did walk 4500 km in a year. Amazing.

I agree, it’s really cool. I’ve always wanted to do something like that. I love how his, I suppose new friend/girlfriend, appears in a few of them for a while. He’s lost a bit of weight by the end too.
Very inspiring! Thanks for the link.
