Exciting news - Ignite Sydney just launched its website today. Ignite was initially started in Seattle by the O’Reilly group - it’s a style of presentation where each presenteter is given 5 minutes, 20 slides, 15 seconds per slide, and the chance to talk about anything they’re interested in.
It’s kind of similar to Pecha Kucha, who also run an event in Sydney a couple of times a year.
The thing I love about the Ignite format is the ecclecticism it brings - I’ve seen (via Youtube) great talks such as how to buy a new car,, Matt Harding (I love that guy) talk about how he got so many people to dance with him, hacking chocolate, and even our own John Allsopp at the first Ignite Boulder (Colorado) on 15 cool things you can do with CSS.
So go along to the Ignite Sydney site and register to attend and maybe even have a think about presenting… everyone has an interesting talk inside them, why not get it out for Ignite Sydney.
Disclosure - we’ve sponsored the event so this is not a completely unbiased post. But it will be a very cool event, and a nice way of keeping your brain active through the brain-mush of January.
