I know I am pretty harsh on Flash on this blog (and for anyone who has the misfortune to get me started when I’ve had a few drinks), so I thought I’d post an example of Flash done well.
Good Magazine has mapped out history’s greatest journeys, from Marco Polo to Livingstone to Kerouac, the Silk Road, Trans-Siberian Express and even Moby Dick.
They’ve embedded information, photos (including some from Flickr) and history along the journeys. I think it’s a new site so still has lots of room to grow but I’d love to see a lot more interaction with Flickr, Google Streetview, and user generated info. At the moment you’re dependent on the information they’ve added but I’d love if they made it more of a wiki so users could add their own information or photos or trivia. Streetview integration would be cool where they have it - you would be able to follow the route of On The Road, or the Pan American Highway and see how it looks now.
