I just found a really cute little site called Yearbook Yourself. (I’m not sure which agency was behind it, but if you know let me know in the comments).
In Australia we missed out on the typical American yearbook pictures as we didn’t really have yearbooks like the Americans do. I did appear in one yearbook from a year of school I did in Colorado and I still cringe to see the photo - it was 1993 so I had applied my makeup with a trowel and was wearing a hideous flannel shirt and some high-waisted jeans.
Yearbook Yourself gives you the opportunity to see how you’d look with different hairstyles and outfits through the decades, every 2 years from 1950 through to 2000.
A terrifying look at how I’d look in 1973, 1985, 1994 and 2000.
You simply upload a photo and adjust the angle, size, etc. Then on each photo, you have the opportunity to adjust again - most shots need slight tweaks.
There are a few slightly confusing parts - when you being they make you select a mall, but provide no explanation as to what this is for. Is this for “real-life” shopping? Or is there some cultural reference to say, California vs New York vs Midwest fashions?
They’ve also tried to add a commercial aspect to the site, to say “The fashions were all about X - the following stores sell these”.
Actually, now I see why they made you select a mall - these links lead to the mall/store site where you can find those brands.
It’s a bit of a tenuous link, and probably could have been executed a little smoother. But all up it’s a cute little site, worth playing with for a few minutes, and will probably be forwarded on quite a bit. A quick Google search shows it’s already gone quite viral.
