Mucky McDonalds coffee with your morning news

In news today, McDonalds has just signed a deal with Fox in the US to put cups of iced-coffee in front of the morning news anchors in regional areas.
Executives at the station, one of 12 owned by Meredith Corporation, say the six-month promotion is meant to shore up advertising revenue and, as they told [...]

Google maps finally recognises walkers

One of my small gripes with google maps has finally been rectified - they now do walking directions. I try to walk everywhere and I usually use google maps as a reference to see the distance to my destination.

At first glance it seems pretty good. They give walking time assuming about 19 minutes per [...]

What’s your favourite geek shirt or slogan?

Hi all,
I’d love some feedback on what your favourite geeky tshirt or slogan is - whether it’s an existing t-shirt or (preferably) just a slogan or a design that you’d love to see on a shirt.
Some of my favourites are following:

And this one isn’t really geeky but it’s my favourite t-shirt ever, especially to [...]

Jason Calacanis retires blog, world yawns

While I’d love to one day live in SF, some days I’m glad I’m not living in the silicon valley hub. Blogs are ablaze this morning with the news of some “a-list” blogger announcing his retirement. There seems to be an incredibly arrogant sense of importance amongst some bloggers who consider themselves A-List (Scoble, Calacanis, [...]

Will journalists now have to fact check?

One of my biggest gripes with the rise of social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace is the utter laziness of journalists from supposedly reputable papers. SMH and The Age, I’m talking to you. It seems that whenever anything newsworthy happens, journos go straight to Facebook or Myspace and lift photographs, quotes and comments [...]

Bubble wrap innovation

By innovation I mean “how to charge US$50 for a 16c piece of bubble wrap”.
Bubble Calendar are selling calendars made of bubble wrap, with a bubble to pop for each day.

It’s a nice idea, although I think for the $50 price tag I’d rather make my own.

You can’t rely on online translation tools

Maybe get a native speaker to double check your translation means what it’s supposed to.
I’m sure it’s delicious.

When your phone runs out of batteries… dance!

Orange in Europe has just collaborated with GotWind (terrible name) to launch a mobile phone charger powered by dance. In what sounds like my worst nightmare, when you move your arms along to the music, a specially designed system of weights and magnets, similar to that found in kinetic energy watches, creates an electrical current [...]

Dexter is back with a brand new viral

I’ve blogged before about the brilliant dexter viral campaign they did a bit over a year ago.
Well they’re back with a second viral for season 3. Since blogging about it originally I’ve become addicted to the show and have watched season 1 and 2 back to back.
This viral is much the same in [...]
