I’m so glad I held out for the iphone. I did it on principle, and also because I hate lining up for things and apparently there’s still an hour long wait at most places.
But the SMH has just mentioned that Virgin is getting the iphone, and on a half-decent plan too!
Meanwhile Virgin is expected to offer the 8GB iPhone 3G for $0 upfront on a $70 per month contract with 1GB of data - a generous data allowance for the price when compared to the competition. For a few extra dollars customers can add up to an extra 4GB of data - which is a very tempting offer.
That’s great, and I’m almost tempted to sign up with them for another 2 years, although the 45 minute phone wait whenever you need anything is a pain in the arse.
The article mentions that Telstra is releasing better plans and 3 might also be getting the phone.
