Google maps finally recognises walkers

One of my small gripes with google maps has finally been rectified - they now do walking directions. I try to walk everywhere and I usually use google maps as a reference to see the distance to my destination.

At first glance it seems pretty good. They give walking time assuming about 19 minutes per mile, which is pretty slow but I guess a good base to work from. You also seem to be able to walk down paths that aren’t open to cars, and the wrong way down one-way streets. Nicely done.

I do like how they add a little caveat about using “caution when walking in unfamiliar areas”. Ha. Not sure why they don’t tell the same thing to car drivers.
