Orange in Europe has just collaborated with GotWind (terrible name) to launch a mobile phone charger powered by dance. In what sounds like my worst nightmare, when you move your arms along to the music, a specially designed system of weights and magnets, similar to that found in kinetic energy watches, creates an electrical current which provides a top-up of charge to a storage battery.
Created specifically for summer music festivals, the charger is a result of months of research into alternate, sustainable energy sources to power mobile phones.
I wonder if it still works if, like me, you dance like Chandler from Friends?
