I have had ING direct accounts since they first launched in Australia - maybe about 3 years or so. I use them for savings as well as my “tax accounts”. I’ve never noticed as I’ve always accessed them from PCs but their website sucks from a Mac, on both Firefox and Safari.
It takes me 25 minutes to login as the page sits there saying “loading item 4 of 5″. Once I’m in, I can’t actually transfer any money on or out as it’s “loading item in an iframe” but doesn’t actually do anything.
I have been trying to use their website for 45 minutes and now been on hold for 16.
Really not good enough ING - you have about 2 minutes until I blow my top and close my accounts with you. In this day and age it’s not good enough to have a website that only works on PCs.

Yeah, I agree it is pretty poor, despite its superficially slick look. I’d say you’ve got popup blocking turned on though? I can use it with Safari, once I have turned this off.
The thing I hate most about their interface is that lame keypad with the numbers that change position that you use to enter your pin. Someone once probably got themselves a very nice promotion for proving how clever they were in designing and implementing a system which *may* be appropriate in a circumstance where maybe someone is going to set up a camera and record movements in order to compromise your security while putting in your PIN. But is totally inappropriate and hard to use in this circumstance. Irritates me every time I use it.
Funny, I quite like ING compared to anything else bank related out there. I have no problems with it at all as it actually does a couple of useful things:
1. Is fairly intuitive, rather than the quirky navigation tricks I have to perform every time I enter Westpac or NAB accounts.
2. You can get a summary of transaction of *previous years* when it comes to tax time. Try going past 100 days with Westpac and you are screwed. (sorry, how much text can we fit on a server nowadays?)
3. It works on my Mac and PC, I am thinking this is server related or settings (or time for that new iMac!)
Well it turns out their site was down - not that they put up an outage notice or anything on the login page, you just couldn’t get in - there were no error messages, just no browser action.
I just think if they are a direct channel they really need the best online experience out there. There are no branches to walk into (which I love) but that means they should be putting the money they’d have spent on branches into upgrading and maintaining their online offering.
Max, I agree about the login, although have you tried to use Virgin/Westpac? They were so worried about keystroke loggers they’ve implemented an online keyboard. So on the off-chance you were infected with a keystroke logger (maybe one in ten thousand chance) you were safe but if you were logging on in public (say from an internet cafe or work) everyone can watch you enter your customer id and which letters/numbers you click as a password. They are nice enough to even highlight them as you press them, just in case the person looking over your shoulder didn’t get a close enough look.
I could live with delays if their interest rate was worth the wait. It isn’t (not any more).
