I’ve just had an email asking -
“I wanted to know if you could post a blog about this new advertising trend, advertisers are looking at your skin in a whole new way by Handvertising! You also take a look at the Handvertising samples and information on our site at http://www.HandvertisingUSA.com”
So here we go. Handvertising is the stupidest, most pointless and pathetic concept I can possibly imagine, and if the email I received wasn’t so painfully earnest and obviously written by a PR hack, I’d assume that a friend was playing a joke on me.
I know I work in marketing so I should expect people to get excited about “brand new advertising opportunities” but seriously, advertising on hands? And getting all excited like you’re curing cancer?

It gets worse. According to the press release
“We find venues also use the stamps to increase business. For example venues are offering special prices on drinks if the customer has a particular Handvertising stamp. People are requesting particular stamps because they want to fit in and they want the drink special.” Mike says.
Wow Mike, you’ve really got an untapped market there, congratulations - you should be so proud of yourself. People really want to fit in so they’ll sell themselves out to coca-cola. Hey why stop at stamps, why not brand people with a tattoo or a scar like a logo? That will really make them fit in.
So for SEO purposes for when someone searches for Handvertising (or even “stupidest advertising concept of 2007″), I think Handvertising is pathetic, absurd, ridiculous, pointless, uninteresting and meaningless and it makes me dejected that there are people in the world that actually work on ideas like this for a living.
Now do I get my prize for blogging about you? Am I helping you to build buzz?
