Virgin has been very busy in America, launching Virgin Charter (although the service won’t be live until February). It’s the perfect premise - as air travel gets more and more unpleasant, particularly in the US, why not make it easy for people who can afford it to charter their own plane.
It’s something I’d definitely do to avoid those awful airports where the TSA treat you like an animal (or should that be worse than an animal?). I’d love to go to a private airport, avoid all the queuing and get onto my own plane. As Branson says,
“while commercial aviation involves easy booking and lousy flight experiences, private aviation is just the opposite—booking is a big hassle, but people love the flights”
So along comes Virgin Charter to make the booking easy. Brilliant. I hope I can one day use their service… charter to SXSW 08 anyone?
