Is it just me or is that site come across as being very American? Maybe it’s just the design, but to me it has that vapid “rah rah all slogan no substance” feel of American presidential campaigns.
I agree that they should have used a .com.au. Most people don’t seem to care, but personally I think it smacks either of being clueless about the web, or buying into a cultural cringe. I hate companies like Telstra for using .com and politicians in particular shouldn’t do it.
“but to me it has that vapid “rah rah all slogan no substance†feel of American presidential campaigns.”
Umm, isn’t that all politicians? (With the exception of Saint Bob of course.) I don’t think it’s an exclusively American trait. I think it’s probably the red, white and blue of the site that does makes it feel a bit American.
I was just reading that apparently the domain squatters have already got all the kevin07 domains that their staffers forgot to buy - .org, .net, etc. Silly agency, that’s something they definitely shouldn’t have overlooked unless they want a cokezero/zerocoke situation on their hands.
@Cheryl … I agree, it’s great that pollies are embracing online social networking, but it’s not enough to make me vote for Labor … dunno about you but I’m an issues-based voter, not one that votes on the basis of Facebook friends ;)
