I like the fact that someone at ninemsn was able to cope with the idea that people would type in “bums”. Instead of freaking out they just accepted it and turned it into a positive feature - very smart.
In a similar vein I think voice-recognition phone lines shouldn’t ignore cursing - they should pick it up and say “it sounds like this isn’t working for you, would you like to speak to a human operator?”.
Ben - that’s a great idea, if voice recognition could pick up tones of frustration in a voice and redirect accordingly, it would save a lot of bad juju towards that particular company.
Especially the swearing - although sometimes it is nice to be able to scream insults at a voice recognition system as I’d never do it to a human. :)
Actually there is one thing I think MSN missed out on - being able to recommend movies. This could be a great feature, if it asked you other movies you like, or actors, etc, and could match up your choices with what’s showing.

Now THAT would be a cool feature.
